Brought up on country estates in England and France, and on a farm in Africa, CCMA Songwriter, Vocalist and Entertainer of the Year Clive Kennedy is carving a unique niche in Country Music…. COUNTRY MUSIC WITH A BRITISH TWANG!
One of the few British country music singer-songwriters, Clive has won numerous awards with his clever lyrics and catchy songs. From Marty Robbins, Hank Williams and Merle Haggard wailing from a battery operated record player in the primitive rural life of South Africa to Elvis, the Beatles and Stones in the discos of London, his music, life and experiences have been unique and lend a creative and personal edge to his songwriting.
Lou Robin (managed Johnny Cash for 22 years), favorably compared Clive to the legendary songwriter Roger Miller: “Clive is one of those rare ‘quadruple threats’, an amazing country songwriter, vocalist, entertainer and musician!”
Clive has performed (both with his band and solo) his original music in just about “every honky tonk from San Diego to Bakersfield”, including The Cowboy Palace, The Gene Autrey Museum, and Buck Owen’s Crystal Palace. Clive has also played at many clubs in Nashville including such well-known venues as The Bluebird Cafe©, The Nashville Palace, Tootsies, Legends, and Roberts. To overcome some ‘country’ skepticism concerning his nonconforming background, Clive has won numerous country music awards, for his performances, his songs, and as a vocalist, in places like Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg, in Tennessee, and in Anaheim and Los Angeles in California.
In Europe, where he topped the charts with the first song he ever wrote, Clive is known as “The International Cowboy”.
Clive is a member of the Academy of Country Music, BMI, and SAG-AFTRA and a Freeman of the City of London.
